Dockside biological data collection is primarily used to obtain a representative sample for length and weight by species. The lengths are used in length frequency graphs and the weights are used to calculate mean weights to estimate total landings in weight. In addition, other biological samples may be taken e.g., otoliths, stomachs, spines, or gonads to support studies of age and growth, diet or reproduction.
To obtain a representative sample for length and weight by species for the headboat fishery.Other biological samples may be taken e.g., otoliths, stomachs, spines, or gonads.
