The Acoustic Backscatter data sets are GIS raster images of the range of backscatter amplitudes projected onto a colormap from multibeam echosounder amplitude data or side scan sonar amplitude data. These amplitude data from individual datafiles are mosaicked into a single raster.

Title: | Acoustic Backscatter |

Short Name: | Acoustic Backscatter |
Status: | In Work |
Abstract: |
The Acoustic Backscatter data sets are GIS raster images of the range of backscatter amplitudes projected onto a colormap from multibeam echosounder amplitude data or side scan sonar amplitude data. These amplitude data from individual datafiles are mosaicked into a single raster. |
Purpose: |
The purpose of the acoustic backscatter data is to provide the user with a overall map of the area acoustically surveyed and to depict the survey in a manner such that the user may discern seabed substrates, habitats, and features. |
