      <abstract>The "add on" project area surveyed depths between the 27 and 175 meter depths around St. George Island and St Paul Island in the Central Bering Sea. Full bottom coverage, consisting of 100% multibeam data was achieved within the limits of hydrography for this survey. One hundred percent backscatter data was acquired and stored by TerraSond, Ltd to be processed by the client. The data were collected from the R/V Mount Mitchell by Terrasond, Inc using a Simrad EM710 multibeam echosounder.</abstract>
      <purpose>A navigable area survey was conducted in Pribilof Canyon, Alaska in accordance with the NOAA, National Ocean Service, Statement of Work, Pribilof Canyon Mapping, OPR- R144-KR-09, dated April 16, 2009.  At the end of this main project, a "short add on" survey was conducted in two areas near St. George Island and St. Paul Island in an effort to delineate areas of shell hash around the two islands.  The purpose of the main project was to provide NOAA with modern, accurate hydrographic survey data with which to update the nautical charts of the assigned area. The project was chartered in cooperation with the Marine Conservation Alliance and the Alaska Fisheries Science Center?s Resource Assessment and Conservation Engineering Division to provide bathymetry for, ?both habitat and charting purposes.? The project area is known for its incredible ecological productivity. It plays a role as permanent and temporary home to a wealth of biota which range in size from microscopic to some of the largest macroscopic organisms in the world. With such an abundance of marine life, it supports one of the world?s largest fishing fleets, whose catch ranges from cod to king crab.</purpose>
