The Delta submersible vehicle, outfitted with video equipment (and other devices), was deployed from the R/V Auriga during September 2001 to monitor seafloor disturbance and benthic recovery after installation of thePC1 fiber optic cables.
Video data from specific dives falling within the bounds of the HMPR-119-2006-01d survey area were reviewed toexamine the benthic characteristics of the seafloor as a tool for validating sonar imagery.

Navigation information (along with time stamp) was extracted from digital overlay of video tapes recordedon Mini-DV media. A point file was created in ArcInfo 9.1 depicting the assumed position of the Delta. Video tapes were reviewed making note of primary and secondarysubstrate types, along with certain biological notations when deemed appropriate. Time stamp was noted on the video tapes ateach substrate transistion and assumed to remain constant until the next transistion in sediment type was encountered.Substrate type was entered into an Excel spreadsheet format where timestamp was used to correlate sediment with positionalinformation.,Navigation information (along with time stamp) was extracted from digital overlay of video tapes recordedon Mini-DV media.
