48032 ENOW_NES_OceanEconomy Data Set Published / External 37227 Economics Project Completed 2020 Nonemployer Statistics for Economics: National Ocean Watch (ENOW NES) contains annual time-series data for over 400 coastal counties, 30 coastal states, and the nation, derived from the United States Census Bureau. ENOW NES data report the number of nonemployer establishments and gross receipts, within the six sectors of the ocean and Great Lakes economy, . Nonemployer Statistics are the primary resource for studying the scope and activities of self-employed people. The ENOW NES data measure activity of sole proprietorships and other businesses with no employees at various geographic scales and classified in the six sectors within the ocean and Great Lakes economy. 10154 This data complies with the Information Quality Act directive from the Office of Management and Budget. With the release of the 2014 ENOW data, gross domestic product (GDP) for the ocean economy was updated for the entire time series to reflect the rebenchmarking of gross domestic product (GDP) for the entire U.S. economy. The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) periodically revises the GDP data to better reflect the evolving nature of the U.S. economy.
