This imagery was captured September 20, 2015 for the Hawaiian Monk Seal Research Program. Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) are being tested to assess their effectiveness for capturing images of seals and other wildlife. In addition to single photographs, an orthomosaic of Southeast Island was created as part of a mapping exercise over the island using an APH-22 hexacopter. The mosaic output is a GeoTIFF in WGS84 UTM Zone 1N. Mission support: Charles Littnan NOAA, Jessica Lopez Bohlander NOAA, LT Michael Marino NOAA UAS planning and flight: Kathryn Sweeney NOAA, Don LeRoi of Aerial Imaging Solutions Map compilation: Joel Stocker for AIS.

Orthomosaic image of Southeast Island in the Pearl and Hermes Atoll, Hawaii. Images captured using an APH-22 hexacopter (Mikrokopter navigation and flight controls). Flight Date: September 20, 2015. Image coverage approximately 0.2678 sq km (66.3 acres). Orthomosaic processed using Pix4DMapper by Pix4D from 181 images flown at an altitude of 120 meters. Approximate image resolution from this altitude: 2.5 cm/pixel (.98 in). The alignment is approximate, no ground control points (GCPs) were available on the island to verify or make adjustments. An estimate would be within 5 to 6 meters compared to real world coordinates. Less than one to two meters when measuring across the width of the island (relative accuracy). Overlay with existing imagery appears to show correct placement. Moving objects may show duplications.
This data set was developed by Aerial Imaging Solutions, LLC.

Horizontal Positional Accuracy
The alignment is approximate, no ground control points (GCPs) were available on the island to verify or make adjustments. Completeness Measure
Cloud Cover: 0
Completeness Report
The extent of image coverage is limited to the acquired flight lines which were planned to map the shoreline and therefore may not include all areas within the bounding coordinates.
Conceptual Consistency
