This data set represents the results of analyses conducted by the Department of Defense to assess the compatibility of offshore wind development with military assets and activities. | Purpose: |
To support ocean planning activities pursuant to the Executive Order Regarding the Ocean Policy to Advance the Economic, Security, and Environmental Interests of the United States, the Energy Policy Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Rivers and Harbors Act, and the Coastal Zone Management Act. |
| Notes: |
The data set contains 4 categories of OCS lease blocks: No Restrictions - No significant conflicts with offshore wind development were identified. Site Specific Stipulations - Potential conflicts exist and may require site specific measures be developed to avoid or limit impacts to military assets or activities. Recommended Wind Exclusion - Significant conflicts exist between offshore wind and military assets or activities. Not Assessed - Areas without a red, yellow, or green color fill have not been assessed for compatibility with offshore wind. |

1. Acquire source data 2. Use Dissolve tool to run multipart dissolve on OCSWindAssessmentAtl04142014 based on "DoD_Wind" field 3. Perform Erase tool on OCS blocks using Stipulation Areas 4. After adding the field "DoD_Wind" to OCS blocks, Merge the Atlantic and OregonStipulation Areas with the the OCS blocks feature class 5. Use field calculator to populate null values in the "DoD_Wind" field as "Not Assessed" 6. Rename "DoD_Wind" to "dodDesignation" |
