This data set represents the extent, approximate location and type of estuarine and marine wetland habitats in the United States and its Territories. These data delineate the areal extent of wetlands and surface waters as defined by the National Wetland Inventory (NWI) and includes the equivalent Coastal and Marine Ecological Classification Standard (CMECS) units. Certain wetland habitats are excluded from the NWI program because of the limitations of aerial imagery as the primary data source used to detect wetlands. This data set is neither designed nor intended to represent legal or regulatory products. For wetland information visit www.fws.gov/wetlands/. |

Go to https://www.fws.gov/wetlands/Data/State-Downloads.html and download all geodatabase zip files Unzip files and in each geodatabase, add the _Wetlands feature class to ArcMap For each, Select by Attributes where WETLAND_TYPE = Estuarine and Marine Wetland and export into a new feature class Merge the exported feature classes into a single feature class Union the single feature class and Intersect to find overlapping features Delete/Merge any overlapping features based on state and ATTRIBUTE Crosswalk CMECS info into attribute field using table found at https://www.fws.gov/wetlands/documents/NWI_Wetlands_and_Deepwater_Map_Code_Diagram.pdf Delete all superfluous fields Check geometry and project data into WGS 1984 Auxiliary Sphere |
