This dataset layer displays the shelf valleys in the MA WEA. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration assumes no responsibility for the use of these data. The shelf valley layer was created by using the Create Features pane to add a polygon. The editor tools were used to digitizing the polygon to the desired shapes. Shelf valleys are so designated because the faint channels appear to be tributaries to the Block Island Shelf Valley that runs southward across the shelf to the southwest of the MA WEA. This dataset was created by NOAA/NMFS/NEFSC/Sandy Hook Laboratory/Coastal Ecology Branch, 2015-2017.
