5664 Data Set Published / External 6348 Misc Federal Logbook Project In Work This is a federally mandated logbook program for high seas squid jig fishing, and it is required to be mailed in to PIFSC after a fishing trip. Fishing occurs in the North Pacific. Data was collected in the field by High Seas permitted fishers on a federal logbook data collection form (High Seas Pelagic Longline/Gillnet Log - Daily Form), and data entry was conducted at PIFSC to create an MS-Excel spreadsheet with 2 worksheets, one for the 2001 data and another for the 2003 data. There was no consistency in recording the squid fishing data into the High Seas form, so each vessel's data submission is slightly different. Before migrating the spreadsheet data into Oracle, a common record format was created for the trip summary data and the catch data.
