Larval fish data collected on the NOAA Ship NANCY FOSTER cruise NF-1102
April 19 through May 7, 2011

XLS Sheet 1) Table with detailed tow data from Bongo net
XLS Sheet 2) Table with detailed tow data from Neuston nets

The USVI larval distribution and supply study conducted its fifth annual research cruise between 19 April and 7 May, 2011. Ichthyoplankton sampling. During this cruise yielded 163 samples (97 Bongo and 66 Neuston) from 101 stations, and a total of 26,777 larvae were collected. Bongo nets were towed for 10 minutes just below the sea surface at the stations identified in the attached excel spreadsheet. Bongo samples were collected from these tows. Neuston tows were conducted for either 5 or 10 minutes at the identified stations, however this net was towed half in and half out of the water, to capture the sea surface. Neuston samples were collected from these tows. Due to a cessation in funding, the samples collected have not yet gone through taxonomic identification. If funding is restored, all samples collected will be identified using taxonomic keys and a subsample will be identified using genetic techniques.
