These data were collected by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration National Geodetic Survey Remote Sensing Division using a Leica Chiroptera 4X system. The data were acquired from 20220605 - 20220723. The data includes topobathy data in an LAS 1.4 format file classified as unclassified (1), ground (2), noise (7), water surface (topographic sensor) (9), high noise (18), bathymetric point (40), water surface (41), synthetic water surface (42), submerged feature (43), and submerged aquatic vegetation (46) in accordance with the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) classification standards. This data set may also include lidar intensity values.
<purpose>This lidar data are an ancillary product of NOAA's Coastal Mapping Program (CMP), created through a wider Integrated Ocean and Coastal Mapping initiative to increase support for multiple uses of the data. It is not intended for mapping, charting, or navigation. In addition, it will be used for ongoing research efforts for testing and developing standards for airborne lidar.</purpose>

<vertical-positional-accuracy>Absolute accuracy was assessed using Non-Vegetated Vertical Accuracy (NVA) survey methods. Survey check points were evenly distributed as feasible throughout the project area. NVA compares known ground check point data that were withheld from the calibration and post-processing of the lidar point cloud to the triangulated surface generated by the ground classified lidar point cloud. NVA is a measure of the accuracy of lidar point data in open areas with level slope (less than 20 degrees) where the lidar system has a high probability of measuring the ground surface and is evaluated at the 95% confidence interval (1.96*RMSE). The non-vegetated vertical accuracy tested 0.069m at the 95% confidence interval. </vertical-positional-accuracy>

Data were processed to an initial LAS format using the Leica Lidar Survey Studio (LSS) software. The NovAtel Inertial Explorer software was utilized for GPS and inertial processing. Water refraction correction was applied to returns below the water surface within LSS. Data were then combined into 500m x 500m tiles. GeoCue, Terrasolid, and LP360 software was used for data visualization, 3D editing, and export to final LAS file. Final data were exported in LAS 1.4 format in NAD83 (2011) horizontal and vertical datum.

The NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) received files in laz format. The files contained lidar elevation and intensity measurements from Chatham Bay to Monomoy Point, MA. The data were in UTM Zone 19 coordinates and ellipsoid elevations in meters.

OCM performed the following processing on the data for Digital Coast storage and provisioning purposes: 1. Converted from UTM Zone 18 to geographic coordinates 2. Sorted by gps time
