Abstract

A two-foot (2.0 ft) cell size Digital Elevation Model (DEM) raster was created from the ground classified lidar points and hydro breaklines. The files are delivered in tile format (2000 x 2000ft), the rasters are delivered in 32-bit floating point GeoTIFF format (.tif) and adhere to USGS-NGP Lidar Base Specification 2025, rev. A.

The Project-wide defined project area (DPA) represents approximately 11,606 square miles of land area. The data are available from USGS in 5 blocks, they are:

IL_19County_1 (Work Unit 300853) - The Block1 area is approximately 3287 square miles and contains 22,906 tiles (2000ft by 2000ft). This block covers Greene and Macoupin counties and parts of Morgan and Sangamon counties.

IL_19County_2 (Work Unit 300854) - The Block2 area is approximately 2124 square miles and contains 14,802 tiles (2000ft by 2000ft). This block covers Adams and Hancock counties and parts of Brown and Schuyler counties.

IL_19County_3 (Work Unit 300855) - The Block3 area is approximately 2016 square miles and contains 14,051 tiles (2000ft by 2000ft). This block covers Cass, Mason, and Menard counties and parts of Brown, Morgan, Sangamon, and Schuyler counties.

IL_19County_4 (Work Unit 300857) - The Block4 area is approximately 2122 square miles and contains 14,891 tiles (2000ft by 2000ft). This block covers Grundy county and parts of Kendall, La Salle, and Will counties.

IL_19County_5 (Work Unit 300858) - The Block5 area is approximately 2052 square miles and contains 14,349 tiles (2000ft by 2000ft). This block covers Boone, DeKalb, and Kane counties and parts of Kendall, La Salle, and Will counties.

This metadata record supports the data entry in the NOAA Digital Coast Data Access Viewer (DAV). For this data set, the DAV is leveraging the GeoTIFF files hosted by USGS on Amazon Web Services.

Purpose

This project will support the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) high resolution elevation enterprise program, the Illinois State Geological Survey's Height Modernization Program, and the 3DEP mission.

Vegetated Vertical Accuracy (VVA) = 8.97 cm at the 95th Percentile
