Fish are taken from the holds of the boats using a dip net, weighed, measured, and scales collected. Scales are mounted and shipped to Beaufort. At Beaufort laboratory, datasheets are entered using DBase, ages estimated and lengths between annuli recorded. These data are then converted to a SAS database that includes data of capture, vessel, location captured, and plant landed.
