This dataset is part of a regularly scheduled update of planimetric, hydrographic, and topographic features. The dataset was created from source imagery acquired by a Leica ADS40 multispectral scanner and LAS data acquired by a Leica ALS50 Phase I Lidar sensor from January 31, 2009 through February 6, 2009.

Accuracy
Verification of attribute accuracy for Lidar data involves the use of filtering techniques. Auto-filtering uses algorithms to reclassify data in the point cloud. Hand-filtering involves the analysis of a technician working in a graphic environment to reclassify the erroneous points that may remain in the Lidar point cloud after auto-filter.

Conceptual Consistency
Calibrations of the Lidar flight line data are performed; this process is known as bore sighting. The flight lines are compared to evaluate both their relative and absolute accuracies.
Lidar data was collected using Leica's ALS50 Phase I sensor. The raw data was verified in MARS software for complete coverage of the project area, and bore sighted to align the flight lines. Raw data files were parsed into manageable client-specific tiles. These tiles were then processed through automated filtering that separates the data into different classification groups: unclassified points, ground points, "noise" points and water. The data was next taken into MARS to reclassify the erroneous points that may remain in the Lidar point cloud after auto-filter.
2009-01-01T00:00:00
The NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) received the lidar files in las format. The files contained lidar intensity
and elevation measurements. OCM performed the following processing for data storage and Digital Coast provisioning purposes:
1. Data converted from State Plane coordinates to geographic coordinates.
2. Data converted from NAVD88 heights to ellipsoid heights using GEOID03.
3. The LAS data were sorted by latitude and the headers were updated.
