EU Export Health Certification
You can request a certificate through the online request system. (To access the system, you’ll need a username and password from the Seafood Inspection Program: follow the “New Customer” link on the login page.) The system will generate Legal Harvest documents for product caught by U.S. flagged vessels on or after January 1, 2010, at the same time as the EU export health certificate.

EU IUU Fishing Regulation: Catch Documentation
You need Legal Harvests documentation—that is, documentation of compliance with the European Union’s regulations against illegal, unregulated, and unreported fishing—to ship wild fisheries products harvested on or after January 1, 2010, to the European Union.
For product caught after January 1, 2010, by a U.S.-flagged vessel, you need:
Legal Harvest
(for U.S.-caught product exported directly to the European Union or through another country and on to the European Union)
Place a request using the online request system. The inspection office nearest to you will then email you a catch certificate.

For foreign product caught after January 1, 2010, re-processed in the United States, and shipped to the EU, you need:
“Annex IV” catch certificate
(for foreign-caught product exported through the United States to the European Union)

Question: What is an FAO catch area? I want to see a map of the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization’s major fishing areas before I request a certificate.
