Recent and Ongoing Projects

  • Research working with the commercial lobster fishery to test buoyless systems in lobster gear.

    • Status: Ongoing.

  • Study on determining the catch efficiency of a cable sorting grid in the summer flounder trawl fishery.

    • Status: Another year of testing was recently completed (2019). Data is being analyzed.

  • Study on determining the catch efficiency of a cable sorting grid in the longfin squid trawl fishery.   

    • Status: Comparative testing on mid-sized vessels completed. Further testing on large freezer vessels scheduled. 

  • Study on mitigating sea turtle bycatch in the gillnet fishery.

    • Status: Comparative research study scheduled for winter 2020.
