Brenda Becker and Thea Johanos have studied endangered Hawaiian monk seals since the start of NOAA’s field work in the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. Forty years later, they are as dedicated as ever to the species’ recovery.

Funding has been approved for the NOAA-sponsored South Delacroix Marsh Creation Project through the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection, and Restoration Act Program. The project will restore more than 400 acres of marsh in Plaquemines Parish.
