Christian Reiss, Ph.D.

Program Lead, Krill and Oceanographic Research

Christian Reiss is Research Fishery Biologist in the Antarctic Ecosystem Research Division. He conducts research on the population dynamics and ecology of Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) using a variety of field-based approaches. Since 2005, he led annual expeditions to the Antarctic Peninsula. Recently, he led the transition from a ship-based to an autonomous program to conduct this research. His work supports NOAA and the Department of State to manage the krill fishery and Antarctic resources in support of the U.S. AMLR Program Act.
