The Habitat and Ecosystem Services Division protects and conserves living marine resources, their habitats, and ecosystem functions through a variety of regulatory authorities, pro-active stewardship, and ecosystem based management. The Division coordinates preparation of essential fish habitat information for use in fishery management plans and conducts consultations with federal and state agencies that authorize, fund, or undertake actions that may adversely affect essential fish habitat.
