Marine Recreational Information Program Partners
Our state and regional partners are vital to the success of the Marine Recreational Information Program (MRIP). State and regional partners work together to identify—and work with MRIP to meet—data needs for effective management. These can vary a great deal for different parts of the country, and even for different fisheries in one region. Many state resource agencies coordinate in-person, onsite data collection efforts. Highly trained state samplers collect data directly from anglers, and managers at state agencies serve as the first line of quality control, making sure surveys are taking place as designed. Regional partners also play several important roles, ranging from program coordination and communications to quality control and storage of data.
