GARFO Year End Assessments of Fishery Catch Utilization

Beginning in 2026, GARFO will be producing a year-end assessment of fishery catch utilization for the prior fishing year. Below you can find the report for the 2025 fishing year and an archived report for the 2024 fishing year. Please note that the fishing year varies across fisheries, so each report will reflect the fishing year for the subject fishery (for example, in the 2025 report, the summer flounder entry reflects the time period January 1-December 31, 2025, while the monkfish entry reflects the time period May 1, 2025-April 30, 2026).

We are providing this information to share and track the utilization of commercial fishery quotas, recreational fishery catch, and overall catch utilization for managed fisheries in the Greater Atlantic Region. The list of species is focused on active fisheries managed by the Mid-Atlantic and New England Fishery Management Councils. We are including estimates of total ex-vessel revenue based on commercial landings and an annual average of the reported ex-vessel price paid during the year, and this estimate does not reflect seasonal or regional variability in prices or revenue. The "unrealized value" column reflects the potential value of unharvested commercial quota if that quota had been landed based on the average ex-vessel price described above.
