Amendments to the Cooperative Agreements Between NOAA and the Alaska Eskimo Whaling Commission

Alaska Eskimo Whaling Association Cooperative Agreement Amendments from 2011, 2014. 2015 and 2016.

2011

Article 4, Paragraph (1) is amended to read as follows:

"No more than 75 bowhead whales shall be struck in 2011. The AEWC and NOAA shall determine the total number of bowhead whales that may be struck in 2012, and any applicable number of bowhead whales that may be landed, through annual negotiations prior to the year for which the quota is applicable. Provided, however, that the Under Secretary may, in consultation with the AEWC, reconsider and revise the terms of this paragraph if she deems it necessary pursuant to the Federal Register notice of the allocations."

View 2014 Amendment

Article 4, Paragraph ( 1) is amended to read as follows:

"No more than 75 bowhead whales shall be struck in 2014."

View 2015 Amendment

Article 4. Paragraph (1) is amended to read as follows:

"No more than 75 bowhead whales shall be struck in 2015."

Article 10 is amended to read as follows:

"Such amendments may be approved. on behalf of NOAA. by the United States Commissioner to the International Whaling Commission. or his designee."

View 2016 Amendment

Article 3 is amended by removing this sentence:

"On the first of each month during the spring and fall whaling seasons, the AEWC shall inform NOAA of the number of bowhead whales struck during the previous month."

Article 4, Paragraph (1) is amended to read as follows:

"No more than 75 bowhead whales shall be struck in 2016."
