Biological Opinion for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for the Alaska Liquefied Natural Gas Project, Prudhoe Bay, Alaska

This opinion considers the effects of the construction of the Alaska LNG pipeline and related facilities.

These actions may affect the following endangered or threatened species and critical habitats: Cook Inlet beluga whale, Cook Inlet beluga whale critical habitat, bowhead whale, blue whale, fin whale, humpback whale, humpback whale critical habitat, North Pacific right whale, North Pacific right whale critical habitat, sperm whale, gray whale, sei whale, Arctic ringed seal, Arctic ringed seal critical habitat,¹  bearded seal, bearded seal critical habitat,¹ Steller sea lion, Steller sea lion critical habitat, Chinook salmon, and steelhead trout.

This opinion is based on information provided by 8 Star Alaska in the revised IHA application for the proposed activities in Prudhoe Bay and the petition for an LOA for the proposed activities in Cook Inlet, the Environmental Impact Statement and Biological Assessment by FERC published on June 28, 2019, the proposed LOA, the updated project proposals, email and telephone conversations between NMFS AKR, NMFS Permits Division, FERC, and 8 Star Alaska, and other sources of information.
