This opinion considers the effects of in-water pile driving of steel piles, placement of fill in marine waters, construction vessel traffic, and support operations on listed and proposed species likely to be present during these activities.
This action may affect threatened Mexico DPS and endangered Western North Pacific DPS humpback whales, endangered fin whale, endangered Western DPS Steller sea lion, and the proposed threatened sunflower sea star. The project is located within critical habitat for the Mexico and WNP DPS humpback whale.
This opinion is based on information provided in the Biological Assessment, IHA Application, and Proposed IHA (90 FR 12204 March 14 2025). Other sources of information relied upon include consultation communications (emails and virtual meetings), recent consultations completed in the same region, previous monitoring reports, and marine mammal surveys conducted in Womens Bay.
