The annual Fisheries of the United States report is a yearbook of fisheries statistics for the nation. The most recent report provides data on commercial landings and value and recreational catch in 2023.
The Fisheries of the United States report is NOAA Fisheries’ annual snapshot of the nation’s fishing and seafood industries. According to the latest Fisheries of the United States report, U.S. commercial fishermen landed 8.4 billion pounds valued at $5.1 billion in 2023.
In our recreational fisheries, U.S. anglers took more than 204 million trips in 2023. These recreational anglers caught an estimated 1.1 billion fish and released 65 percent of those caught.
