Recovery Plan (2019) for the Gulf of Maine Distinct Population Segment of Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar)

February 11, 2019

The goal of this 2019 recovery plan is the removal of the Gulf of Maine DPS of Atlantic salmon from the federal list of endangered and threatened wildlife and plants. A previous plan was released in 2005.

Recovery will be achieved when conditions have been attained that allow self-sustaining populations to persist under minimal ongoing management and investment of resources. In order to achieve the goal of recovery, a stepwise approach will be adopted which addresses the critically low numbers of adult Atlantic salmon returns then builds toward full recovery.
