Regulatory Impact Analysis for Proposed Amendment 129 to the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area and Amendment 58 to the Fishery Management Plan for Bering Sea Aleutian Islands King and Tanner Crab
July 17, 2026
Draft analysis on removing economic data reporting requirements for three catch share programs in the North Pacific Ocean off Alaska.
This Regulatory Impact Analysis analyzes proposed management measures that would apply exclusively to participants in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI) crab Rationalization Program, the BS American Fisheries Act (AFA) pollock Program, and the BSAI Amendment 80 Program. These three Limited Access Privilege Programs (LAPPs) are the only LAPPs in the North Pacific that require participants to submit economic data reports (EDRs) to NOAA Fisheries. The measures under consideration would remove the requirements to submit EDRs. The purpose of this action is to eliminate the administrative costs and reporting burden associated with these data collections.
