This fact sheet explains how the Marine Recreational Information Program estimates fishing effort on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.

The Fishing Effort Survey (FES) is a mail survey that collects effort information from households in Hawaii and on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts. This fact sheet explains how this survey has improved our understanding of the number of trips recreational anglers are taking, and outlines the steps that will integrate historical effort estimates with estimates derived from the FES.
