For-Hire Data Collection in the Greater Atlantic

October 20, 2020

This rack card explains how NOAA Fisheries collects recreational fishing data from for-hire vessels in the Greater Atlantic.

This rack card provides an overview of for-hire data collection in the Greater Atlantic. It explains why for-hire fishing data is an important part of estimating total recreational catch, and it highlights the different data collection programs—including the Access Point Angler Intercept Survey, the For-Hire Survey, and the Vessel Trip Reporting Program—that allow NOAA Fisheries to gather information about the number of fish for-hire clients catch and the number of trips for-hire vessels take. More detailed information can be found in the Greater Atlantic For-Hire Data Collection Fact Sheet.
