Research Brief: 2022 Aerial Survey For Steller Sea Lions In The Aleutian Islands

NOAA Fisheries marine mammal biologists plan to conduct an aerial survey to collect digital images of Steller sea lions in the Aleutian Islands (western Distinct Population Segment).

Who is conducting the research?

Scientists from NOAA Fisheries’ Alaska Fisheries Science Center and The Cooperative Institute for Climate, Ocean, and Ecosystem Studies in collaboration with the NOAA Office of Marine and Aviation Operations.

What is the research objective?

NOAA Fisheries marine mammal biologists plan to conduct an aerial survey to collect digital images of Steller sea lions in the Aleutian Islands (western Distinct Population Segment). Survey images will be use to count adults, juveniles, and pups.
