May 17 is Endangered Species Day. The Endangered Species Act was established in 1973 to conserve threatened and endangered species and their ecosystems. NOAA Fisheries works every day to protect, conserve, and recover our nation's marine life under the ESA. 

NOAA Fisheries and partners are working to recover 165 marine species listed under the ESA. Watch the video below to find out about our work under the act.
