Local Government Review

Cities and counties in Oregon must adopt local comprehensive plans for land use that are in accordance with the Statewide Planning Goals and Oregon’s statutes and administrative rules.

Prior to establishing an aquaculture operation, ensure that your proposed site is consistent with the local comprehensive plan. Reach out to the planning department in your county to discuss your project, as you will need their approval to obtain your federal permits. Your local government may require additional local permits at this stage depending on the location and project details.

If you use the Joint Permit Application, your local planning department needs to complete the City or County Planning Department Land Use Affidavit on Line 11. If you use either the Corps’ Permit Application or the Nationwide Permit PCN, your local planning department needs to complete a Land Use Compatibility Statement (LUCS).
