Survey data also available through API. HAUL, CATCH, SPECIES

Data Caveats

The Resource Assessment and Conservation Engineering (RACE) Division Groundfish Assessment Program (GAP) of the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) conducts fisheries-independent bottom trawl surveys to monitor populations of demersal fish and crab stocks of Alaska. Data presented here are presence-only data, which can be joined with haul and species data to create presence and absence (zero-filled) data.

There are no legal restrictions on access to the data. They reside in the public domain and can be freely distributed. Users must read and fully comprehend the metadata prior to use. Please acknowledge NOAA, as the source from which these data were obtained in any publications and/or other representations of these data. These data are compiled and approved annually after each summer survey season. The data from previous years are unlikely to change substantially once published.

This interactive tool is built for small data pulls. Large data pulls (e.g., all surveys for all years and all species) can be pulled through the API, requested through the comments page, or as a data request to the survey team. See metadata and quick start guide for data pull, use, and plotting examples.
