Catch weight is also expanded for damaged catch. Damaged catch expansion varies by species and damage level. These protocols are still under development for some species. If length data was obtained for the damaged individuals weight is estimated from the organism lengths. If organism(s) was not intact and an otolith was obtained length and weight are estimated by otolith size back-calculation. Length back-calculation is done using a species-specific GAM model with data available in COOPLL.OTOLITH_LENGTH_PREDICTION_DATA using a measurement of the damaged individual's otolith length and width, one or both as available. If no otolith was obtained the weight are estimated using the mean weight within that strata for the species. If there are limited data available within strata for that species than a mean for the whole survey region is applied. |
