Entity Information
Entity Type
Data Table
Data Attribute / Type | Description |
---|---|
CRUISE
NUMBER |
Unique numerical code for each cruise. Specific to a vessel and season. Five digits, where first 2 digits indicate vessel, next 2 year, last digit season. For example 24142 = Tenacious II 2014 fall survey or 25151 = Mary Elizabeth 2015 spring survey. If last digit = 3 it is an experimental survey trip |
STATION
NUMBER |
Unique sequential order in which stations have been completed, unique to each cruise code. Failed gear deployments each receive a non-repeated consecutive number. |
COMMON_NAME
VARCHAR2 |
A standard common name which represents a species caught. Refer to the SVDBS.SVSPECIES_LIST |
SVSPP
NUMBER |
A standard code which represents a species caught. Refer to the SVDBS.SVSPECIES_LIST |
SEX
NUMBER |
Code indicating sex of fish or invertebrate species. See SVDBS.FSCS_SEX_CODES. Codes 0, 1, 2 and 4 are the only valid codes in fscs tables. |
LENWT
NUMBER |
Weight (kg) of individuals for which length was measured for that species. |
LENNUM
NUMBER |
Number of individuals for that species that lengths were measured. |
CATCHWT
NUMBER |
Mass of all catch (kg) for a species. This includes both the weight of catch for which lengths were taken and subsampled portions of the catch. Catch weight is also expanded for damaged catch. Damaged catch expansion varies by species and damage level. These protocols are still under development for some species. If length data was obtained for the damaged individuals weight is estimated from the organism lengths. If organism(s) was not intact and an otolith was obtained length and weight are estimated by otolith size back-calculation. Length back-calculation is done using a species-specific GAM model with data available in COOPLL.OTOLITH_LENGTH_PREDICTION_DATA using a measurement of the damaged individual's otolith length and width, one or both as available. If no otolith was obtained the weight are estimated using the mean weight within that strata for the species. If there are limited data available within strata for that species than a mean for the whole survey region is applied. |
CATCHNUM
NUMBER |
Expanded number of individuals of a species caught at a given station. Includes count of damaged individuals and expansion of the count for subsampled catch. Expansion of the subsampled catch is done using the length-frequency distribution from that station, or if data is insufficient than the distribution for the entire strata. |
COMMENTS
VARCHAR2 |
Catch comments for the current species. |
AUDIT_FLAG
VARCHAR2 |
Binary flag that indicates a data issue was identified during the audit (if = Y), with details provided in the comments field. It may indicate a data field that is not recommended for use in analysis. |
