A pole seine is a rectangular net that has a pole on either end to keep the net rigid and act as a handle for pulling the net in. The net is pulled along the bottom by hand as two or more people hold the poles and walk through the water. Fish and other organisms are captured by walking the net towards shore or tilting the poles backwards and lifting the net out of the water.
