Summary
The Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office (GARFO) Geographic Information Systems (GIS) refers, collectively, to the geospatial projects developed at GARFO. Currently, its main products include standardized Regulatory Area shapefiles. GIS is also used to integrate both GARFO-derived and 3rd party content to derive new intermediate data sets, or to develop various mapping projects and analyses.

The Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office (GARFO) Geographic Information Systems (GIS) project strives to improve customer service, internal and external, by developing quality-controlled and well documented GIS data, analyses, and map projects. The GARFO GIS project strives to improve GIS Data & Analysis Quality by - creating accurate, reliable, and standardized GIS data, metadata, analyses and geospatial products - conducting Quality Assurance/Quality Control on GARFO-generated GIS data, and analyses - developing and conducting sophisticated & relevant geospatial analyses - coordinating with the Science Center to ensure consistent GIS data creation and usage in the region. |
