Federal Funding Opportunity (FFO) Reviewers

An Access database that houses potential reviewer contact information and their expertise for use in the administration of the Northeast Region's competitive grant programs. Expertise is categorized under 6 priorities: Aquaculture, Conservation Engineering, Optimum Utilization, Fisheries Socioeconomics, Fisheries Management and Policy, and Marine Resource Management. The database currently holds information on 1075 people.

The Federal Funding Opportunity (FFO) reviewer database was developed as an efficient in-house means to simplify the search process, save time and allow grants staff to readily target individuals best suited to review a project, based on funding priority and their known area of expertise. The database is also used to develop grant mailing lists used to broaden the distribution of funding opportunity announcements based on known areas of interest.

Collection type: Data is consolidated by gathering elements of responses to key word searches gathered primarily through web searches for individuals with expertise in the published grant program priorities. This data is then placed in the ACCESS database for later use.

Reviewer information is typically used by NER/OBD grants staff in the administration of competitive grant program solications. It is not uncommon for other offices to request lists of reviewers.

Access Database. This is the only data set. H:\Grants. This is an internal resource only, so the Point of contact must be contacted to request access.

The dataset was created in 2009 and is reviewed periodically for accuracy.

Database is updated on an adhoc basis as names are added to the list or conversely deleted (e.g., death, retirement, etc.) on a case by case basis, as information becomes known. Database usage is linked to availability of funding to run a competitive grants program (e.g, Saltonstall-Kenndy) in a given fiscal year.
