Description

The Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) Mammals and Acoustics Program conducts a wide variety of cetacean and pinniped research in the Pacific Ocean. Research projects range from nearshore California waters to Alaska, the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, and the Eastern Tropical Pacific. Research categories include: (1) Marine Mammal Acoustics; (2) Research Vessel Line-Transect Surveys; (3) Aerial Line-Transect Surveys; (4) Photogrammetric Surveys of Pinniped Rookeries; (5) Bycatch Estimates of Protected Species in Commerical Fisheries; (6) Marine Mammal Stock Assessments; (7) Cetacean Habitat Spatial Modelling; and (8) Sea Lion Diet/Food Habits.
