Data Quality
Conceptual Consistency: |
Precise pump speed measurements are not available for all platforms and years. The nominal pump speed is 0.64 L^3 / Min. |
---|---|
Quality Control Procedures Employed: |
The data entry program contains range and error checks for common mistakes (e.g., positions, datetimes). Egg counts are verified in the laboratory for samples with many eggs and for some entire cruises (verified samples are denoted in the database). |
Data Management
Have Resources for Management of these Data Been Identified?: | No |
---|---|
Approximate Percentage of Budget for these Data Devoted to Data Management: | Unknown |
Do these Data Comply with the Data Access Directive?: | Yes |
Is Access to the Data Limited Based on an Approved Waiver?: | No |
Approximate Delay Between Data Collection and Dissemination: | 1 year |
If Delay is Longer than Latency of Automated Processing, Indicate Under What Authority Data Access is Delayed: |
It may take up to one year, depending on cruise, for samples to be verified in the laboratory. They are published within a few days after processing. |
Actual or Planned Long-Term Data Archive Location: | NCEI-MD |
Approximate Delay Between Data Collection and Archiving: | 1 year |
How Will the Data Be Protected from Accidental or Malicious Modification or Deletion Prior to Receipt by the Archive?: |
The working database is a Microsoft SQL Server database on a server at the Southwest Fisheries Science Center which has all appropriate access controls. |
Lineage
Lineage Statement: |
Data are collected and initially sorted at sea using the continuous underway fish-egg sampler. All eggs are preserved in formulin. Some samples are subsequently verified in the laboratory. Data are entered into the database after all verification. |
