This data set contains information used to help determine median size at 50% maturity for the bottomfish species, Pristipomoides filamentosus in the Main Hawaiian Islands. Many specimens were collected from October 2007-December 2014; all specimens are included in the Bottomfish Sampling Data Data Set. Gonads were fixed and preserved in 10% Formalin for at least 3 months and histological slides were created using a cross-section of each gonad. Sex and maturation stage was determined for each specimen/slide.

Collection of gonad tissue started in October 2007, but histological work didn't begin until the end of 2013. For the initial round of histological slides created, sex and maturation stage for P. filamentosus have been determined. A manuscript of the results is in the works.
