Data Quality
Representativeness: |
Participation in the survey was voluntary. Given the level of fiscal and human resources available to conduct the research, and the extensive geographic area to be covered by the effort, it clearly was not possible to consult with an exhaustive sample of shoreline users. Rather, the research effort was designed to allow for documentation of the range of relevant knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions held by persons who currently live near or frequently visit the two shoreline study sites. |
---|---|
Quality Control Procedures Employed: |
The quality of the data was controlled throughout the data life cycle including data collection, data entry, data cleaning, and data storage. Data were collected following rigid statistical methods (e.g. survey administrators were trained to become familiar with the survey). Data entry files were developed to minimize data entry errors, including setting data ranges, embedding skip patterns, and multiple choice questions were set with predetermined choices. Data were cleaned. Data files were stored in PIFSC’s server with password protection. |
Data Management
Have Resources for Management of these Data Been Identified?: | Yes |
---|---|
Approximate Percentage of Budget for these Data Devoted to Data Management: | Unknown |
Do these Data Comply with the Data Access Directive?: | Yes |
Is Access to the Data Limited Based on an Approved Waiver?: | No |
Approximate Delay Between Data Collection and Dissemination: | No delay expected |
If Delay is Longer than Latency of Automated Processing, Indicate Under What Authority Data Access is Delayed: |
No delay expected |
Actual or Planned Long-Term Data Archive Location: | To Be Determined |
If To Be Determined, Unable to Archive, or No Archiving Intended, Explain: |
These data are Legacy. Efforts to disseminate can be arranged upon request, but the data are currently out of scope for the Data directive. |
Approximate Delay Between Data Collection and Archiving: | No delay expected |
How Will the Data Be Protected from Accidental or Malicious Modification or Deletion Prior to Receipt by the Archive?: |
Data is securely stored in PIFSC's server with password protection. Only staff who work on the project can access to the data. |
Lineage
Lineage Statement: |
After the data were collected through in-person survey administration, data were entered into an Excel database. Then the entered data were checked and cleaned. Finally the cleaned data were used to general data report. |
