Coding system (values 1 to 12) to reflect a category of document images. 1 = ORIGINAL DATA SHEETS (original trawl logs containing specific information and catch composition; length frequency sheets associated with species caught at a station; any type of information associated with a particular station) 2= SAILING ORDERS/INSTRUCTIONS (sailing orders; cruise instructions; cruise announcements) 3=CRUISE RESULTS (cruise results prepared by chief scientist; general post cruise information; published articles concerning a cruise) 4=TEMP/HYDRO LOGS (oceanographic logs; salinity logs; wind logs; loran logs; card 5 station index logs) 5= CRUISE TRACKS (graphic overview of where stations were occupied; hand-drawings of various station locations) 6= CRUISE NOTES/COMMENTS (cruise comments/field notes; mathematical calculations/simple statistical analyses; scientific reports for cruise; hatchling logs; gear and equipment drawings; Hardy plankton recording logs; drift bottle data logs; high speed plankton sampler logs; tagging records) 7= PRESS RELEASES (agency press releases; newspaper articles concerning a specific cruise) 8= SPECIES SUMMARIES (single species data summaries) 9= ANCILLARY STATION (anecdotal information; non-relevant cruise notes; personal logs/letters; general memos; journal articles related to more than one cruise; status of the stocks summaries; biographical information; daily messages) 10= CRUISE PROBLEM SHEETS (statements related to specific cruise problems or changes made to master data) 11= STRATA TOW SHEETS (station, haul and gear information sorted by sequential station number and sequential stratum-tow order) 12= FISHERMEN REPORTS (fishermen reports (beginning in 1972) provide station and catch information on a per cruise basis).

A number stamped on original document for file management purposes.

Unique sequential order in which stations have been completed. Hangups and short tows each receive a non-repeated consecutive number.

A predefined area where a net dredge, or other piece of gear was deployed. Code consists of 2 parts: Stratum group code number (2 bytes) and stratum number (3 bytes). Stratum group refers to if area fished is inshore or offshore North or South of Cape Hatteras or the type of cruise (shellfish, State of MA, offshore deepwater). The stratum number (third and fourth digits of code) refers to area defined by depth zone. See SVDBS.SVMSTRATA. The fifth digit of the code increases the length of the stratum number for revised strata after the Hague Line was established. Stratum group code: 01 = Trawl, offshore north of Hatteras; 02 = BIOM; 03 = Trawl, inshore north of Hatteras; 04 = Shrimp; 05 = Scotian shelf; 06 = Shellfish; 07 = Trawl, inshore south of Hatteras; 08 = Trawl, Offshore south of Hatteras; 09 = MA DMF; 99 = Offshore deepwater (outside the stratified area). A change in Bottom Trawl Stratum for the Gulf of Maine-Bay of Fundy has been in effect since Spring 1987, and may be summarized as follows: Previous strata: 01350; Present strata: 01351, 01352.

Unique name of image file, including file extension.

Type of graphic file of the image.

Date document was scanned (MM/DD/YY HH:MI:SS).

Sequence generated number used for file management.

Date when record was inserted into Oracle. Date format (MM/DD/YY HH:MI:SS).

The Oracle username of the individual who entered the new record.
