Accuracy:

See Positional Accuracy Report.

Horizontal Positional Accuracy:

All horizontal control to support hydrography must meet or exceed third-order,class I standards as described in the Federal Geodetic Control Committee booklets, Standards & Specifications for GeodeticControl Networks (FGCC 1984). These standards list the minimum relative accuracy permitted for each order of accuracy.

Vertical Positional Accuracy:

National Ocean Service standards for the accuracy of measured depths in hydrographicsurveys are derived from standards specified by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) in the InternationalHydrographic Bureau (1987) Special Publication No44, "IHO Standards for Hydrographic Surveys". Essentially, with aprobablility of 90%, the total error in a measured depth should not exceed 0.3 m from 0 to 30 meters, and 1% of depthsgreater than 30 m.

Process Steps

Process Step 1

CC ID: 601980
Description:

Depth soundings (in meters) were extracted from the NOAA NGCD GEODAS software by querying the latitude andlongitudinal area emcompassing the Olympic Coast national marine sanctuary, resulting in a point coverage with an depthattribute. A surface was then created with a kriging model in ArcInfo, then contoured at 10m. Contours were clipped tothe bounds of the HMPR-108-2002-01 sonar survey effort.
