2008 NOAA NGS Ortho-rectified Colo Mosaic of Potomac River, Maryland

The images were acquired at a 1:30,000 scale. Images have been ortho-rectified and mosaiced to produce a seamless data set.

This imagery was orthorectified by Aero-metric to conform to the specifications set forth by NOAA for production of orthophotos in Contract Number DG133C06CO0055, Task Order Number T0007. Ortho-rectified mosaic tiles are not intended for mapping, charting or navigation.

Orthoimages are visually inspected for completeness to ensure that no gaps or image misplacements exist within and between adjacent images. These images are derived by mosaicking multiple images to ensure complete coverage. Source imagery is cloud free.

These photographs were obtained for use by NGS during the course of its development of potential final products to fulfill its statutory mission. The horizontal accuracy of the orthorectified images is mainly determined by the quality of the DEM. The elevation data was from the USGS National Elevation Data dataset. Ground control points were measured in the ortho images and recorded in a spreadsheet which calculated the RMSE and NSSDA reporting accuracy.; Quantitative Value: 0.95 meters, Test that produced the value: These data are accurate to within 0.95 meters with a 95% circular error confidence level.

The source imagery of the ortho-rectified mosaic tiles are acquired at a higher resolution images than the 1.0 meter ortho-rectified mosaic tiles product. The extent of image coverage is limited to the acquired flight lines which were planned to to map the shoreline and therefore may not include all areas within the bounding coordinates.

The ortho-rectified tiles are visually inspected for image quality and spot check for gross horizontal positional accuracy blunders with USGS Digital Orthophoto Quadrangles.
