Raster |
This dataset depicts bathymetric zones at 90 m (3 arc-second) horizontal grid resolution in the MA WEA. This dataset was derived from a subset of U.S. Coastal Relief Model, provided by NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, https://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/coastal/crm.htmlThis dataset was created using NOAA's Benthic Terrain Modeler v3.0 (https://coast.noaa.gov/digitalcoast/tools/btm). Parameters were as follows: 1. Build Fine Scale BPI, inner radius = 5, outer radius = 25. 2. Standardize BPI, 3. Calculate slope, 4. layers from steps 2 and 3 were integrated in the Zone Classification Builder Tool, standard deviation break = 1, slope value = 2.Bathymetric data sources include the U.S. National Ocean Service Hydrographic Database, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and various other academic institutions. Topographic data are from the USGS and the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM). Volumes 3 through 5 also use bathymetric contours from the International Bathymetric Chart of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico project. |

MA_Wentworth
Raster |
This dataset depicts predicted surficial sediment mean grain size in the MA WEA and was generated from usSEABED: https://coastalmap.marine.usgs.gov/FlexWeb/national/usseabed/. The raw mean grain size data was kriged. Krig parameters: ordinary kriging, first order trend removal. This data set is a point coverage of known sediment samplings, inspections and probings from source data: usSEABED data collection. This data set represents theextracted (EXT) and parsed (PRS) output of the dbSEABED mining software. It contains the results of parsing descriptions in the data resources. The PRS data is less precise because it comes from word-based descriptions, but will include information on outsized elements, consolidation that are not usually in EXT data. |

Description: |

This dataset depicts bathymetric zones at 90 m (3 arc-second) horizontal grid resolution in the Mid-Atlantic. This dataset was derived from a subset of U.S. Coastal Relief Model, provided by NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, https://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/coastal/crm.htmlThis dataset was created using NOAA's Benthic Terrain Modeler v3.0 (https://coast.noaa.gov/digitalcoast/tools/btm). Parameters were as follows: 1. Build Broad Scale BPI, inner radius = 5, outer radius = 25. 2. Standardize BPI, 3. Calculate slope, 4. layers from steps 2 and 3 wereintegrated in the Zone Classification Builder Tool, standard deviation break = 1, slope value = 2.Bathymetric data sources include the U.S. |
