Abstract

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office for Coastal Management and Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) requires acquisition and processing of 4-band aerial imagery. The data is to be collected during leaf‐off conditions during +/- 2 hours of low tide. The sun angle shall not be less than 30 degrees and there shall be no clouds, cloud shadows or haze in the imagery. The imagery shall be acquired when streams and rivers are within their banks when there is no flooding conditions. This data set is consisting of an area of interest (AOI) for the NOAA Coastal GA Imagery project. Aerial Imagery acquisition for this project was completed in nine (9) flight lifts undertaken between the 25th of February and 13th of March 2018.

Data Quality

Horizontal Positional Accuracy:

The 15 cm or 0.5 feet data set was produced and tested to meet or exceed a positional accuracy of +-2.5 feet CE95. Actual positional accuracy was found to be RMSEx = 0.598 feet and RMSEy = 0.407 feet which equates to Positional Horizontal Accuracy = +/- 1.230 feet at the 95% confidence level.

Completeness Report:

A visual qualitative assessment was performed to ensure data completeness. No void areas or missing data exist.Void areas (i.e., areas outside the project boundary but within the tiling scheme) are coded using a unique “NODATA” value. This value is identified in the appropriate location within the file header.

Process Steps

Process Step 1

CC ID: 1312416
Description:

Aerial Photography Acquisition: Aerial photography was acquired, in eight (8) mission, using an UltraCam Eagle at an altitude of 6,829' AGL to support 0.5-foot pixel resolution color digital orthophotography. Airborne GPS and IMU data was collected during the photography acquisition and supported by CORS GPS- stations. Data acquisition was completed on 13th of March 2018.

Process Date/Time: 2018-03-14 00:00:00

Process Step 2

CC ID: 1312417
Description:

Orthorectification:SimActive's Correlator3D software was used to rectify and mosaic the data. Following the initial generation of the orthophoto tiles, they were visually inspected and corrected where necessary before being saved out as the final orthophoto deliverable tiles.
