Container
Text |
The type of container the fish is being reared in. This includes 1 to 5 gallon white plastic pails, 5 foot diameter circular tanks, 12 foot diameter grey circular tanks, 13 foot diameter tan circular tanks and 20 foot diameter circular tanks. |
Broodyear
Number |
This is the year the females egg that produced a fish were fertilized by a males sperm. |
Year
Number |
This is the year the data applies to. |
type
Text |
This refers to the planned purpose the artificially cultured fish will be used for. Captive Brood (CB) fish are intended to be artificially spawned in the hatchery to produce eggs for use in ESA recovery actions. Adult Release (AR) fish are intended to be released as mature adults to spawn naturally in their native watersheds as an ESA recovery action. |
Month
Text |
This is the month of the year that the data applies to. |
Day
Number |
This is the day of the year that the data applies to. |
Location
Text |
This is the physical location the fish are being reared at. Burley Creek Hatchery (BCH) is the Northwest Fisheries Science Centers freshwater rearing facility located 11421 Bethel Burley Road in Port Orchard, Washington. The Manchester Research Station is a Northwest Fisheries Science Center seawater pumping facility located at 7305 Beach Drive in Port Orchard, Washington. |
water type
Text |
This is the water source being used to rear fish in. Well water is freshwater sourced from the ground aquifer at Burley Creek Hatchery. Seawater (SW) is water pumped directly from Puget Sound that is sand filtered to 20 microns, cartridge filtered to 5 microns and disinfected with a 30 mj/cm2 dose of UV light. |
pool vol (m3)
Number |
This is the volume of water contained in the pool the fish are being reared in (measured in cubic meters). |
pool flow (l/min)
Number |
This is the water supplied to a pool measured in liters/minute. |
Water temperature (C)
Number |
For well water this is the temperature of the incoming ground water prior to its being distributed to tanks. For seawater this is based on a 15 year running average of daily measurements of the seawater being supplied to the tanks. |
Biomass/pool (kg)
Number |
This is the total weight in kilograms of the fish being reared in a pool. Units for values are kg. |
rearing density(kg/m3)
Number |
This is the total fish biomass in kilograms in a pool divided by the pool volume measured in m3. Units for values are kg/m3. |
loading rate (kg/l/min)
Number |
This is the total fish biomass in kilograms in a pool divided by the flow in liters per minute. Units for values are liters/min. |
% body wt ration
Number |
This is the estimated weight of food in grams divided by average fishes estimated weight multiplied by 100% to determine the relative size of the ration being fed to the fish. |
Pellet size (mm)
Text |
This is the diameter of the food pellets being fed to the fish. Units for values are mm. |
