Abstract:

This data set contains gill net fishing data collected by the Hokusei Maru in 1981, 1982 and 1983, in waters around the main Hawaiian Islands. Length and weight of individual species were collected.
Purpose:

The purpose of the collection was to access the availability of squid and the resources of squid in waters around the main Hawaiian Islands by utilizing fishing gear and techniques used in the Japanese commercial squid fisheries. Such techniques include fishing with automatic squid jigging machines, drift gill net and midwater trawl.
